GRIJALVA RIVER TOURS

The Grijalva River is one of the largest rivers in Mexico, with several hydroelectric dams that supply water to 40% of the Country. Tours of the River start in Tuxtla Gutierrez, and take participants to the Sumidero Canyon, a natural area with many waterfalls and limestone caverns. Legends talk about the Sumidero Canyon being the last stand of the Chiapa People, who resisted Spanish Conquistadors to the end. Tours of the Grijalva River can be coordinated by the Personnel of The Institute.
